Costa Rican born Anabel Fournier designs and produces a luxurious line of clothing and accessories crafted of the finest baby alpaca wool, organic cotton and pima cotton--artisanal masterpieces designed expressly for women and children. In the summer of 2004 while living in Bolivia, Anabel studied the survival strategies of rural women faced with extreme poverty. She then founded Fournier as a poverty alleviation project. The goal of her research was create a program to help the community make sustainable improvements in their own standards of living. After discovering the amazing natural materials and craftmanship available locally, Anabel dedicated herself to laying the groundwork for Fournier. Over the past seven years, Fournier has been training the local artisans in the fine arts of knitting, crocheting, embroidery and sewing. The highly-skilled Bolivian artisans handcraft Fournier’s designs, adhering to a strict quality control standard while manufacturing a fashion-forward, eco-friendly collection of clothing and accessories. Fournier operates in a socially responsible manner as well: by building trust with the artisans and suppliers; by providing people all along the supply chain with wages that guarantee a comfortable living; and by ensuring that all involved enjoy pleasant working conditions and a realistic path out of poverty. Anabel works in Bolivia and Washington, DC, where she lives with her husband and two children.
Designer Notice
Anabel Fournier Designs are made lovingly by hand, and the slight variations make each piece unique. We are happy to take returns up to seven days after purchase for exchange. Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of the pieces, Fournier is unable to offer refunds. Pieces must be returned in their original condition with packaging, labels and materials intact. Customers are responsible for any return shipping/insurance costs. Items are shipped within 3 days.
